Where to buy a Kindle

For many, there is nothing like having a book in hand and reading it. From the pleasure of entering the store and buying it, till the sensation that the smell of its pages causes, after having been stored for some time. The digital readout is a trend that goes against all these sensations, causing some resistance. But at the same time, for who devours book after book,  to have over a thousand titles in a bulk device as a newspaper is very tempting.

This reveals two of the main improvements which the  Kindle 2 of Amazon has. On one hand, the capacity of its memory, from the basic 256 MB in the first version to 2 GB available in the new model, allowing you to store around fifteen hundred books. And for the other, a complete redesign of the Device. More attractive, with rounded corners and a joystick that replaces the navigation wheel. The new Kindle has a thickness of only nine-millimeters. However, its screen remains unchanged. It is still six inches with a resolution of 600×800 pixels and shows no color class, although their grayscale range was extended  from  four to sixteen. Another significant change is its inability to expand. By increasing your memory to 2 GB, Amazon decided remove the slot available for SD cards.

One of the biggest issues with the first Kindle was the poor refreshing when moving from one page to another. The new model has improved on this point by showing a speed of up to twenty percent higher than the first Kindle. Another unique feature in the Kindle 2 is that of  “text-to-speech or “Text-a-story”, Which allows the user to read while doing something that requires the use of both hands or when you have tired eyes.

The new Kindle has an average battery twenty-five percent larger that the Kindle before, and it is estimated that could run for two weeks without recharging, assuming that all that is done with the device is read, no downloads involved.

Enthusiasm for the new Kindle has been such that even attracted the mythical Stephen King to the presentation. Besides being in person, the author of such masterpieces as “It” and “The Dark Tower” wrote a novel exclusively for the Kindle 2 call “Ur”.

Where to buy a Kindle

So… where to buy a Kindle? Well, the most important thing to consider is that you can not purchase it at a store. Sure, it would be nice to be able to take a look at it before buying, unfortunately that is not possible. The only place to purchase a kindle is HERE, online at the Amazon shop. They usually have nice specials, such as free shipping. But remember that the Kindle does not come with a cover. It is a delicate gadget so I would strongly recommend to buy one.

A few months ago the Kindle international was released. This is the perfect option if you live in Canada. However, even so you still need to go to this Amazon site to get it since the Canadian version doesn’t sell it. The Kindle Canada works like a charm in Canada, you can download books and read without any issues.
